A first stab at this

Today I was talking to my partner about feeling overwhelmed by how fast the technical world is moving. I graduated my bachelor's in 2019 with an engineering degree feeling poised with technical tooling to solve hard problems. The world feels like it's changed a lot since then in many ways, including the way engineering, writing code, and approaching technical problems is done.

I work for a government agency which feels impactful in many ways, but perhaps is not at the bleeding edge of technology. It sometimes feels like I have quite a bit of catch up to play when sharpening my technical skills. For months I've been feeling the urge to learn and to challenge myself with technical projects. There are many things I do not miss about being a student, but the opportunities to invest in just learning for the sake of learning is certainly one.

I have a few projects rolling around in the back of my mind that I'd like to hold myself accountable to doing over the next months or years. This blog is a way for me to do that in a (hopefully) less intimidating way.

I'm going to hold myself to writing one post a week about something interesting I read, learned, or implemented (some weeks might be small, others bigger). Welcome to this public record of me trying to capture the joy of learning again!
